As June arrives we are pleased to present our Old Skool Garage Duo Jay One and Andy P.
Since forming way back in 1995, when the rise of the underground Garage scene cracked open the whole of UK, Jay One and Andy P as a partnership and separately have gained a wealth of experience within the industry, both on and off of the decks.
We asked them both how it all began for them and what's in store for the future.
Jay One originally started off as an MC at "Powerhouse" along side veterans in the scene such as Francis James (Tuff Jam), DJ Maxim, DJ Ride and Operator, "Jay loved the MC-ing thing and got some great lyrical content going but it was when I bought a few records and my own equipment we began DJing more and more as a tag team". As the bookings came rolling in they featured at clubs in London such as "The Chunnel Club", "Powerhouse", "Imperial Gardens" plus many more, they earned their stripes as DJ's pumping out all of the music they loved within the unrivalled UK Garage movement.
Since then Andy P and Jay One have played on many well respected pirate radio stations in and around London UK, and enjoyed playing sets predominately based around their favourite genre.
The future for our only UK Garage DJ's is bright and now includes them working hard in the studio making music and pushing themselves out there as artists, "Its all about the music, we are making tunes from many dance genres and trying to keep the bookings coming in". Jay One
