Siska grew up in the northern neighbourhoods of Marseille, but it was in La Plaine that she planted her roots, where the neighbourhood's nights grooved to the sounds of black music. It was there that she encountered Rastafarian culture.
Very quickly, in addition to singing in her Afro-reggae combo, Axxam, she sang backing vocals in Joby's Zion Train Imperial. He even offered her the lead vocalist spot in his first band, Ka & Co. Sista Ka was born and would break free from all possible codes with her world-beat gang, Watcha Clan. She would travel across France, Europe, the Maghreb, and the USA for 15 years and 5 albums. Charismatic, she takes the stage with a phenomenal energy that leaves no one indifferent, investing herself physically and spiritually in each concert.
Since discovering Hollie Cook's first album, Siska told herself that if she ever made a comeback to reggae, she would need Prince Fatty (Mike Pelanconi) as the producer, with his rootsy yet modern touch. 100% analog, like a reminiscence of the golden age of Jamaican reggae in the seventies. After inviting him to Marseille to share the stage at a Rub a Dub Club evening (since exported to Lyon and Paris), it was the Marseille singer who went to Lewisham, southwest London, to work in her studio. A natural and obvious collaboration, that feeling of being in the presence of someone you've known forever.
On April 4, 2025 , Siska will unveil an album of compositions: Holdin' the Vibe . A humble tribute to her "big brother" Ras Jahby and through him, to the entire Rasta culture that sowed the seeds of "reggae music" in Marseille and throughout France.
