Chaka Demus & Isha Bel – Perfidia | Reggae / Rocksteady

Chaka Demus and Isha Bel bring a fresh Jamaican take to “Perfidia,” reimagining the classic song made famous in reggae circles by Phyllis Dillon’s 1967 rocksteady version. Released August 7, 2026 through Bright Star Production and Tuff Gong International, the new version gives the song a contemporary voice while respecting its roots.

The track turns the familiar heartbreak story into a conversation between two perspectives. Isha Bel delivers the female side of the story, while Chaka Demus answers with original deejay lyrics from the male perspective, bringing themes of love, betrayal and forgiveness into the arrangement.

Produced by Chaka Demus and Grub Cooper, the recording features a full band of Jamaican musicians including Franklyn “Bubbler” Waul on keyboards, Ian Knight on bass, G-Sharp on guitar and Grub Cooper on drums.

It’s a respectful reworking of a Jamaican classic, but with enough new character to make “Perfidia” feel like more than a straight remake.
