Fish Go Deep x SHY FX – The Cure & The Cause | House Of Roots

Fish Go Deep’s classic “The Cure & The Cause” gets a fresh reggae-infused reworking from SHY FX, bringing one of house music’s most recognisable records into the world of reggae, dub and bass culture.

The remix forms part of David Rodigan’s House Of Roots, a three-track project on Defected Records exploring the connections between house, reggae, jungle and Drum & Bass. SHY FX gives “The Cure & The Cause” a distinctly reggae-driven identity while retaining the soul of the original.

The three-track project also features Soul Central – “Strings Of Life (CLIPZ Junglist Mix)”, which flips the classic into a jungle workout, and The Vision – “Heaven (Prince Fatty Remix)”, completing Rodigan’s journey through three different interpretations of Defected favourites.

Curated by legendary selector David Rodigan MBE, House Of Roots celebrates the musical links between house and Jamaican sound-system culture, showing how these records can be transformed without losing what made the originals special.

For reggae and bass music fans, “The Cure & The Cause” is another great example of SHY FX bringing his production style into a completely different musical setting.
